BJD, BJP to strengthen alliance

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR FEB. 10 . The Biju Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party have decided to strengthen their alliance in Orissa and jointly fight the coming municipal polls.

The coordination committee of the parties, which met here today after nearly 10 months, also decided to form coordination committees at district levels to sort out differences among their workers.

The two parties had fought the panchayat polls last year separately and this had resulted in the Opposition Congress bagging a sizeable number of seats.

The partners in the coalition Government in the State since March 2000 also decided that their leaders would not take their differences to the media and instead sort them out through mutual discussions. The meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister and BJD president, Naveen Patnaik, also decided that the State-level coordination committee would meet once a month.
