Bandh: BJP rejects TDP plea

HYDERABAD Feb. 10. Minority leaders of the TDP have taken up the issue of the BJP-sponsored bandh on Tuesday with the party president and Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Their contention was that the bandh would inconvenience the minorities on the eve of Bakrid and appealed for Mr. Naidu's intervention in the matter.

Mr. Naidu is said to have asked the TDP MP, P. Prabhakar Reddy, who is a member of the coordination committee on TDP-BJP alliance, to talk it out with the BJP top brass in the State. However, his mediation did not bear fruit. The representation to Mr. Naidu was made by the former MLA, Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Masqati, and others.

CPI slams DJS: The Secretariat of the State Council of the CPI has condemned the Darsgah Jihad-O- Shahadath (DJS) for calling for bandh tomorrow, as a counter to the BJP-called bandh.
