Addressing a news conference here, he said the Centre's appeal to the Supreme Court to get the stay on the Ayodhya issue vacated without consulting its allies showed its attitude towards the NDA. Praising the Telugu Desam, the DMK and the Samata Party for expressing their reservations on the issue, Mr. Bardhan said it was time for the three parties to rethink about their support to the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre. They should either force the BJP to withdraw its appeal or consider withdrawing their support to it. The BJP, he said, was implementing its own agenda and carrying forward the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's programme and the demands of the `dharamsansads'. With the elections coming nearer, the party was out to create a situation that suited its ends. But it should be opposed by all means. The party was trying to cut short the judicial process on the Ayodhya issue. On the Iraq crisis, Mr. Bardhan said a war was being opposed by a majority of the countries including those in Europe. So far as the United States was concerned, it had nothing to do with the discovery of weapons of mass destruction. It only wanted to grab Iraq which was endowed with the largest oil resources in the world. The party had decided to organise a "Bharat Janajagaran Yatra" starting from all parts of the country on April 7 and 8. The `yatra', which will end on May 9 in New Delhi, was aimed at alerting the people to the attempts by the BJP to create a communal divide.
