Shabir Shah held

Srinagar Feb. 10. The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party leader, Shabir Ahmad Shah, was taken into preventive custody by police today while leading a protest march to the U.N. observers office.

In the referendum addressed to the U.N. Secretary General, Kofi Annan, Mr. Shah asked the global body to persuade the Centre to return the mortal remains of the JKLF founder, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, to Kashmir.
