Noting that the mushrooming pirated VCD business would "ruin" the film industry, Mr. Rajan appealed to the Chief Minister and the police chief to nab all those involved in the business and book them under the Goondas Act. Appreciating the city police for cracking down on one of the major video piracy shops at Burma Bazaar, Mr. Rajan, however, said Sunday's detection was only the "tip of the iceberg". There was every reason to suspect that there were more such "pirated VCD units" operating. If piracy was not dealt with an iron hand, it would ultimately result in the closure of the Tamil film industry, he added.
