Letters to the Editor
Sir The tussle between India and Pakistan following the expulsion of diplomats is regrettable. Such expulsions have become a regular phenomenon and have contributed to the deterioration of the already-strained relations between the two countries. We are simply making a mockery of ourselves in the eyes of the world. The Government pretends to be an ardent believer of diplomacy with countries such as France and Russia when it comes to supporting the U.S. action against Iraq and at the same time it acts ineptly while dealing with Pakistan. It should either completely shun diplomatic relations with Pakistan till the time is conducive for talks or propose a new code of conduct for diplomats and continue the relations.
