Harare match called off

Cape Town Feb. 11. The World Cup match between Zimbabwe and England scheduled for Thursday in Harare was called off today when organisers were told that the English players refused to play there.

The International Cricket Council announced the cancellation at a news conference after more discussions with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Malcolm Speed, ICC chief executive, told reporters: ``The ECB cited safety concerns for the players as their reason for not fulfilling that commitment."
