This Day That Age
Inaugurating its biennial conference, in Madras on the 11th, Miss Amy B. Rustomji, President of the Federation of University Women in India, stressed the need for improvement in education for girls. The Conference was held in the Women's Christian College in Nungambakkam. The president said there were nearly 35,000 University-educated women in the country. But there was a subtle move to curtail admitting women to academic institutions, giving the excuse that women often do not complete courses and, even when they do so, they do not make full use of their education. But an educated woman running her home would do the task more intelligently and economically than one denied University education.
