Lawyers' meet from Feb.16

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI Feb. 12. India will host a three-day Inter-Pacific Bar Association conference here from February 16 and 600 eminent lawyers will discuss issues relating to information technology, communications and entertainment industries (ICE).

Speaking to mediapersons here, the Chair of the India host committee, Ravi Nath, said the Union Disinvestment Minister, Arun Shourie, would inaugurate the meet, whose theme was `the Dawn of the ICE age — legal issues arising from convergence'.

Mr. Nath said "the areas covered by our theme are very contemporary issues and ones that touch nearly every aspect of our lives. Our global society is going through a metamorphosis that is greater in magnitude than even the industrial revolution. New technology has undeniably transformed the quality of life, but it has given rise to a host of new and complex legal issues".
