The MMS (multimedia messaging service) on its upgraded platform through General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) would allow customers to send text messages along with pictures and sound clips, Anil Nayyar, President (Mobility), AirTel, told reporters here. The new services were launched by AirTel's brand ambassador and Bollywood actress, Kareena Kapoor, here. The services would be available on only GPRS compatible handsets and the company would charge Rs. 600 per month as a package that includes transmission of data among other value added services. The company is offering MMS free of cost for the first 60 days, as promotional offer, and would subsequently charge for services from May 1. AirTel also announced full roaming for its pre-paid services across 14 States. The two-way roaming now will be free of any charges in 14 States of AirTel.
