Highest run scorer

Indian batting star Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday became the highest run scorer in World Cup history, erasing Javed Miandad's existing record.

Tendulkar, who opened the innings after almost a year's gap, overtook the former Pakistani captain's aggregate of 1083 runs from 33 World Cup matches, when he scored the required 25 runs in India's opening match against Holland here.
