Rhodes injures a finger again

Potchefstroom Feb. 12. Ace fielder Jonty Rhodes broke a bone below the little finger of his right hand and was taken to a bone specialist in Johannesburg immediately after South Africa's resounding win over Kenya at the North West Stadium here on Wednesday.

Rhodes was seen by team physio Shane Jabaar and X-rays indicated he had broken a carpal.

Rhodes, who went to see a specialist after he damaged the middle finger of his right hand in the match against West Indies at Newlands, had sufficient protection on the injured right hand before he took the field against Kenya.

South Africa's captain Shaun Pollock said: "It's certainly a concern for us at this stage. We will wait for the news from the specialist.''

The probable replacements, should Rhodes be ruled out of the competition, are Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith.
