The Task Force also approved the allocation of 1.15 lakh tonnes of foodgrains to Maharashtra for three months from February and 75,000 tonnes of rice for Himachal Pradesh at the Below Poverty Line population price in the Public Distribution System. Under the Rajasthan package, people in 74 worst affected blocks would be provided relief employment for 10 days every month and would receive 8 kg of foodgrains per day, while the people of the other blocks would receive 6 kg of foodgrains per day. The difference between the value of foodgrains and the minimum wage would be paid in cash. The foodgrain component of wage employment in other States is 5 kg per day. The State would be allocated 21 lakh tonnes of wheat free of cost from February to July this year in order to provide employment to 66 lakh persons during the peak drought months. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, K.C. Pant, the Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, the Agriculture Minister, Ajit Singh, the Food Minister, Sharad Yadav, and senior officials.
