The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs raised the MSP for rapeseed and mustard from Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 1,340 per quintal including a bonus of Rs. 10. The MSP for barley was raised from Rs. 500 to Rs. 505 per quintal including Rs. 5 per quintal drought relief. The MSP for masur and gram has been increased by Rs. 20 to Rs 1,320 and 1,220 respectively besides drought relief of Rs. 5 per quintal each. The MSP for safflower is retained at Rs. 1,300 per quintal but a drought relief of Rs 5 a quintal has been announced. The prices of other oilseeds belonging to rapeseed/mustard group would be fixed on the basis of their normal market price differentials with rapeseed/mustard. The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation would continue to be the nodal agency for procurement of oilseeds and pulses and losses, if any, would be fully reimbursed, the CCEA decided. It said the higher remunerative prices to farmers would help in increasing production and productivity.
