'Oil price may stabilise soon'

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI FEB. 15. The price of crude may stabilise in two months' time when the war clouds over the Gulf are expected to move away, according to officials of the Bharat Petroleum.

Speaking at a press conference here on the occasion of the launch of the value added fuel, `Speed', here on Thursday, they said the present price fluctuation is a temporary phenomenon. The new product is a blend of petrol and multi-functional additives, the officials said. The deposit control additives present in the fuel effectively remove harmful deposits from all fuel metering systems and components, resulting in enhanced overall engine performance and reduced maintenance costs. The new product is priced at a nominal difference of Rs.1.26 per litre above the ordinary petrol.

Answering a question, they said the Government has not launched the ethanol-blended petrol in Kerala yet. The Government has been facing problems in getting enough ethanol. Once the ethanol-blended petrol is widely marketed, the oil companies might have to review their strategies.

The company would open more super market outlets in the southern region, they said.
