Tripura IGP transferred

Agartala Feb 15. The Tripura IGP in-charge of Armed Forces Operation, T. K. Sanyal, has been transferred as per a directive of the Election Commission, sources said here today.

He will now be IGP (Training) following a direction from the EC, they said. The IGP (Administration) Amitava Kar, has taken over the additional charge of Armed Forces Operation from Mr. Sanyal.

Mr. Sanyal, who was earlier in charge of Law and Order and Armed Forces Operation, was deprived of the charge of Law and Order on January 22 last after a complaint was filed by the Congress to the Election Commission that Mr. Sanyal was working in favour of the ruling CPI(M) ahead of the polls.

The State Congress president, Birajit Sinha, recently said that he had again complained to the CEC that despite his removal from the post of IGP, Mr. Sanyal was working in favour of the ruling Left Front.
