Court summons Punjab CM

By Our Staff Correspondent

SHIMLA FEB. 15. The head of the national legal cell of the BJP, Satyapal Jain, today announced that the Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, the AICC treasurer, Motilal Vora, and the Congress spokesman, Anand Sharma, have been summoned by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Shimla on a criminal complaint filed by the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal, under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code.

Mr. Dhumal along with five other witnesses appeared in the court today. After recording their statements, the Judge passed orders summoning the Congress leaders to appear in the court on March 15.

Mr. Jain said Mr. Dhumal once again refuted all the allegations levelled against him by Capt. Amarinder Singh and Mr. Vora at a public rally in Hamirpur and also the so-called list of his properties released by Mr. Anand Sharma at a press conference in Solan recently.

Mr. Jain said the Punjab Government was involved in gross misuse of official machinery against the BJP in Himachal Pradesh.

"Two officials of the Punjab Government — B.I.S. Chahal, Press Adviser to the Chief Minister, and Surender Jit Singh, Deputy Director of the Punjab Public Relations Department — are openly assisting Capt. Amarinder Singh in the election campaign against the BJP here,'' he alleged.

The BJP would soon complain to the Election Commission, he added.
