Financial aid for hut dwellers

Pondicherry Feb. 15. The Department of Revenue has introduced a new scheme to provide financial assistance totalling Rs 10,000 for hut dwellers to convert thatched huts into semi or pucca structure in Pondicherry.

The Education and Revenue Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, said in a communication on Friday that the amount would be disbursed in two instalments with the first instalment being Rs 4000.

The scheme was aimed at providing houses that could withstand natural calamities.

The Directorate of Survey and Land Records is implementing the scheme in Pondicherry region.
