'Cong. Govt. failed to keep promises'

By Our Staff Reporter

PONDICHERRY FEB.15. The Congress Government in Pondicherry has failed to keep the promises given on the floor of the Assembly, said, A. Anbalagan, AIADMK MLA.

Presiding over a consultative committee meeting of the Pondicherry State Puratchi Thalaivi Peravai on Friday, Mr. Anbalagan, who is also the Peravai Secretary, said the health of the people in the peripheral pockets of Pondicherry was in jeopardy what with large-scale breeding of mosquitoes.

The meeting appealed to the Administration to emulate the example of Tamil Nadu and ensure 30 kg rice free of cost to the drought-hit farmers. The meeting through other resolutions wanted early redressal of grievances of anganwadi workers and the poor.

It expressed concern over the delay in implementation of the

recommendation of the Special Industrial Tribunal raising upward the wages of the Government-owned AFT mill here. The demands of fishermen for uninterrupted supply of subsidised diesel and for inclusion of the fishermen in the ST list and waiver of their loans should be met by the Government.

Aged fishermen should be paid a monthly pension of Rs.1000.
