Tap opportunities in IT, youth told

By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry Feb. 15. The chief executive officer of the Bangalore-based Netnow Software Private Limited, Bhavani Palyagar, has called upon the youth to make use of the opportunities available in the information technology and emerge as fully-equipped software engineers.

Inaugurating a two-day all-India computer departments' students meeting organised by the Department of Computer Science of Pondicherry University and its students association under the banner PIXEL-RECURSION 2003 here today, Ms. Palyagar said they should not confine themselves to one particular aspect of software channel, and should aim at becoming a good programmer.

Holding of such meets would give them exposure to various facets of the subject. The youth should also develop reading habits.

She was glad to find high standard of capability among the present generation and their talents should be tapped properly. The support of the institutions and colleges would help them a lot.

S. Kuppusamy, Head of the Department of Computer Science, felicitated the participants from nearly 37 colleges across the country.

What was learnt inside the classroom could be developed with exposure through such conferences, he said.

Martin Kruskal, the David Hilbert Professor of Mathematics Rugers University in the USA, released a magazine of the meet.

Muthukumaran, joint secretary of the computer students association, and its secretary, Kaliavanan, spoke.
