According to the police, the Chief Minister is expected to arrive by flight at the Vagaikulam airport near the port town from Chennai in the afternoon and would immediately leave for a private guesthouse at Arumuganeri. Police officials said elaborate security arrangements had been made in view of the Chief Minister's visit and stay. Over 500 police personnel from Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Sivaganga, Theni, Ramanathapuram and Dindigul would be engaged in the bandobust duty. Besides, the Tuticorin Superintendent of Police, two more Superintendents of Police from Theni and Tirunelveli would monitor the security arrangements, the officials said. The Chief Minister is expected to launch her campaign from February 17.
