Not the best

Sir, — So Devdas didn't make it to the list for best foreign feature film Oscar (Feb. 12). That is not surprising. The question is why are we so bent on humiliating ourselves by sending in such embarrassingly bad films. What makes us think that mindless glossy productions best represent Indian cinema?
