The Hurriyat chairman, Abdul Ghani Bhat, is facing tremendous pressure from within the organisation to explain his position after its activists, arrested for receiving money from the Pakistan High Commission, alleged they had taken the funds for him, a senior leader said on the condition of anonymity. Mr. Bhat was also facing problems as the Hurriyat's mentors from across the border wanted to remove him from the chairman's post. The Hurriyat leader said that a meeting of the organisation's executive was likely to be held this week, during which the future strategy would be chalked out. Ms. Habib and Shabir Dar, Delhi-based spokesman of the Hurriyat, were arrested by Delhi Police on February 6 for accepting money from the Pakistan High Commission PTI
