New regulation

The International Cricket Council will stop penalising teams for bowling overs slowly in the first innings of a one-day International at the end of the World Cup.

David Richardson, general manager (cricket) at the ICC said the new regulation would come into effect from April 1.

Instead of deducting overs, teams will face heavy fines with greater onus on the captains, who could be charged with time wasting.

Currently there are no penalties on teams bowling second for not completing the overs in time.
