World Cup
Despite a sell-out 26,000 crowd for the World Cup opener between South Africa and the West Indies last week, over 12,000 spectators turned up to watch the low-key fixture between Kenya and Canada at the Newlands under floodlights on Saturday. The two teams didn't disappoint with Kenya just managing to beat a team of amateurs by four wickets. The Canadians smashed six sixes during their innings and the second six hit by South Australian first-class cricketer and opening bat John Davison was described by many as the biggest hit here in years. Broadcasters and journalists were ducking for cover as the straight six off medium paceman Peter Ongondo landed on the third floor of the stand housing the media.
