Bus conductor held for cheating public

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI FEB. 16. The City Central Crime Branch today arrested a conductor of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) on charges of swindling funds from the public, even as they are looking out for two of his accomplices.

Hariram, the conductor, along with Muthiah and Suseela, the latter's wife, had floated a chit company and collected money from around 20 residents in Tirumullaivoyal area during Deepavali last year. As the depositors did not get their monthly returns as promised, they lodged a complaint and following investigations, Hariram was arrested this morning. A search is on for the couple.
