Rushdie wooing Sophie Dahl?

By Hasan Suroor

LONDON FEB. 16. After breaking off with Padma Lakshmi, novelist Salman Rushdie is reported to be trying to woo Sophie Dahl, the controversial model and grand-daughter of the children's writer Roald Dahl.

An unnamed friend of Mr. Rushdie has been quoted in The Mail on Sunday as saying that he is "quite mad'' about Ms. Dahl, 24, whom he met at the New York launch of her book, The Man with the Dancing Eyes. But apparently Ms. Dahl, whose current boy friend is the film actor Dan Baker, has not shown interest, though Mr. Rushdie's friend said: "He is convinced that eventually she will realise that he's got everything...''

However, there was no public comment from Mr. Rashdie or Ms. Dahl.
