Silt disposal: Lokayukta visits site

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE Feb. 17. The Lokayutka, Justice Venkatachala, and his staff paid a visit to the area behind the Indira Nagar Shopping Complex here on Monday following complaints by residents that silt and debris removed from the Ulsoor Lake were being dumped on the empty ground near the Binnamangala Lake.

They said that foul smell was emanating from the accumulated filth and the ground had become a breeding place for mosquitoes.

Mr. Venkatachala and the Deputy Commissioner, Ashwath, expressed surprise that silt was being dumped there. They said land had been identified near Krishnarajapuram for dumping silt and debris and it was unfair to dump them elsewhere.
