Letters to the Editor
Sir, Anger over our cricket team's performance in the world cup is one thing. Losing our perspective is entirely another issue. The tournament is not yet half way through and we are ready to conduct mock funerals for the very players who, until three months ago, could do no wrong. If we blame them for not having pride in their performance, what national character are we exhibiting by vandalising their homes and sending reams of hate mail and multiple abusive SMS messages across the country? For all those who despise them so much, here is my solution: Stop watching. It's just a game. Let us give our boys a chance. At least wait till the end of the tournament before venting our collective spleens. Ajay R. Kamath, Mangalore * * * Sir, Ransacking the houses of cricketers for not winning is an horrendous act. Winning and losing are a part of the game. If the same cricketers play well and defeat Pakistan or even win the World Cup, how will the vandals defend themselves? Siddarth Shankar, Chennai
