CII felicitates Venu Srinivasan

NEW DELHI FEB. 18. With the force of globalisation gaining momentum, more and more companies should shift their focus from product-oriented functions to customer-driven approach, an expert said here today.

"There is a need to adopt the techniques of Total Quality Management (TQM) by Indian companies in view of globalisation,'' TVS Motor Co. Managing Director, Venu Srinivasan, said after being felicitated by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

Mr. Srinivasan was honoured by the CII on the occasion of TVS Motor bagging the `Deming Prize 2002.'The Deming Prize, constituted in 1951 in commemoration of William Edwards Deming, is one of the highest awards on TQM in the world. Deming's techniques helped Japan's products gain quality. He said TQM was nothing but a human resource (HR) revolution that would change an organisation's culture and behaviour of its employees, resulting in better output. — PTI
