Singaravelar remembered

Pondicherry Feb.18. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, garlanded the statue of `Sindanai Sirpi' Singaravelar on the occasion of the leader's 152nd birth anniversary today.

Representatives of the Pondicherry unit of the CITU, V. Perumal, S Sivakumar and J. Gunasekaran, delegations of fishermen trade union and representatives of workers of industrial estates were among those who paid floral tributes at the statue in the Mudaliarpet square.

The PMK Pondy convener, N.G. Panneerselvam, and the former Agriculture Minister, R .Viswanathan(CPI), also paid tributes to Singaravelar. A torch brought from Chennai by a team of volunteers was handed over to Mr. Rangasamy.
