Walkout over tribals' eviction

Hyderabad Feb. 18. The lone member of the CPI-ML (New Democracy), Gummadi Narasiah, and two from the CPI (M), N. Narsimhaiah and S. Rajaiah, staged a walkout from the Assembly this morning protesting against the Government's "sinister attempts'' to evict tribals from their areas under a World Bank-aided forest management scheme.

The issue figured in the House through a question tabled by Mr. Narasiah himself, and he said the Adivasis and Girijans living in the forest areas were being evicted from their habitations in the name of the scheme. He charged that the Government was bending before the World Bank in this manner ignoring the welfare of the weakest of the weak, the Girijans.
