Documents for voter identity

Chennai Feb. 18. The Election Commission has permitted the following documents for use in proof of voter identity, if he or she does not possess the Electors' Photo Identity Card:

Passport, driving licence, income tax identity (PAN) card, service identity card issued by the State\Central Government, public sector undertakings, local bodies or other private industrial houses, bank\kisan\postoffice passbook (accounts opened on or before 31 December, 2002), ration card issued on or before 31 December, 2002, SC\ST\OBC certificate issued by competent authority, student identity card, property document such as patta, registered deed, arms licence, conductor's licence issued by the Transport Authority, pension document such as ex-servicemen's pension book\pension payment order, ex-servicemen's widow\dependent certificate, railway\bus pass, certificate for physical handicap, freedom fighters identity card and domicile certificate issued by the Government.
