Cong. for two-day poll

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI FEB. 19. The Congress today urged the Election Commission to have a two-day poll in Nagaland, instead of one, to enable proper deployment of paramilitary forces in all the constituencies.

In a memorandum to the Commission, the party said that the presence of the NSCN (I-M) cadres was felt in each constituency and that this would mar the conduct of free polls. To ensure that the Central forces were deployed uniformly in all the constituencies, it was essential that the poll be held on two days. The delegation drew the Commission's notice to the printing of about 86,000 postal ballot votes in Tripura when such a large number was not required.
