Abolition of Banking Service Commission approved

New Delhi Feb. 19. Parliament today approved the abolition of the Banking Service Commission with the Rajya Sabha repealing the relevant Act.

The Banking Service Commission Repeal Bill, passed by the Lok Sabha earlier, was approved by the Upper House by a voice vote after a brief discussion.

Winding up discussion on the Bill, the Minister of State for Finance, Gingee Ramachandran, assured the House that reservation for backward classes SCs and STs, would continue in the banks even after the abolition of the Commission, which used to centrally recruit personnel for public sector banks. — PTI
