CM to inaugurate welfare schemes in Perambalur on March 7

PERAMBALUR FEB. 19. The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, will visit Perambalur on March 7 to inaugurate developmental works.

The Chief Minister would lay the foundation for an integrated Collectorate complex and a tourism development project at Gangaikondacholapuram, the Collector, Rajesh Lakhoni, told presspersons here yesterday.

She would distribute assistance to weaker sections and loans to the tune of Rs. 16 crores to 15,000 beneficiaries.

The Collectorate complex, on an outlay of Rs. 7 crores, would come up on 100 acres and would include a full-fledged guesthouse, estimated at Rs. 1 crore.

The Chief Minister would also lay the foundation for the Rs. 1.5-crore District Police Office, and for the police officials' quarters, on an outlay of Rs 1.84 crores.

The Collector said tourism infrastructure would be provided at Gangaikondacholapuram, on an outlay of Rs. 1.13 crores. The plan, to be executed through the Tourism department, would include construction of a yoga hall, a meditation centre, a shopping complex, a museum, a guesthouse and dormitories.

Link roads would be provided to a few villages in the vicinity, as a number of shrines on the periphery had an ancient link with the temple at Gangaikondacholapuram.

The Chief Minister would lay the foundation for a stadium to be constructed at Ariyalur on an outlay of Rs. 68 lakhs. While 40 buildings constructed by the Public Works department at a cost of Rs. 3 crores would be opened, foundation for 60 buildings on an outlay of Rs. 18 crores would be laid.

The Chief Minister would also launch the integrated cooperative development programme on an outlay of Rs. 9.13 crores.

Meanwhile, the Tamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangam has decided to stage a black flag demonstration during the Chief Minister's visit. A resolution was adopted at the district executive meeting yesterday.
