Sir, Your editorial, `The death of Dolly' (Feb. 20) brings out the crucial fact that human cloning is not that easy as was perceived earlier. As rightly put, Dolly's death carries an inherent warning that "we do not know everything we need to about cloning and its impact on health and ageing." Thus, it would not only be merely foolish but will be a great error to extend the cloning technology to human beings. This perhaps may be the reason which provoked many countries to ban human cloning. It goes without saying that much research works are to be undertaken to study the possible ill effects of human cloning on the basis of fresh revelations on Dolly's death.
