Sir, What is Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh up to? On the one hand, he wants cow slaughter to be banned something even the VHP has not demanded of late. On the other hand, while restricting the Hindus' entry into the Bhojshala in Dhar for prayers to once a year on Vasant Panchami, he is permitting Muslims to enter the place every Friday for Namaz. This is asking for trouble, especially in the current climate. Two years ago, when the National Highways in Jharkhand were being widened as they passed through populated areas, the Project Engineer, who was a Sikh, told me that he had demolished both mosques and temples which were on government land. Each community had only one question: Are you also demolishing the other side's prayer houses? When he said `yes' the leaders complied. He said that if he had favoured either community there would have been serious problems of law and order. If the idea is to protect the Bhojshala, then let Mr. Singh allow entry for all once a year Hindus on Vasant Panchami and Muslims on Id. Vasudha Dhagamwar, New Delhi
