Digvijay Singh rejects Advani's charge

New Delhi Feb. 23. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, today rejected the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani's charge that there was confusion in the Congress on cow protection and also distanced his party from the campaign in his State that the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, ate beef.

``I don't subscribe to the view that there is confusion in the Congress on the cow slaughter issue. I also do not subscribe to the Hindutva of Mr. Advani or the VHP leader, Pravin Togadia,'' he told Star TV. He was replying to a question on Mr. Advani's attack on the Congress that the party was in confusion on the issue and was indulging in a ``malicious and baseless'' against Mr. Vajpayee for electoral purposes.

Asked about the reported Congress hand in the campaign against Mr. Vajpayee, he said ``I don't support it. It has been a misrepresentation. There is no poster or banner put up by the Youth Congress with slogans. If there is one I don't support it.''
