N. Rajyalaxmi (Cong) said the famed handloom weavers of Venkatagiri, some of whom won national awards, were in dire straits with no marketing facility. Stocks have piled up. The Government should come to their rescue, he urged. The Information and Public Relations Minister, S. Chandramohan Reddy, assured to bring it to the notice of the Minister concerned. D. Sivaram (TDP), complained that tobacco farmers of the State were shown injustice by the Tobacco Board. The Agriculture Minister, V. Sobhanadreeswara Rao, said the Tobacco Board chairman would be told about the problem. He would also hold a meeting with MLAs hailing from areas where tobacco is grown. Jaipal Yadav spoke of the poor implementation of the sheep development programme and allotment of grazing areas. The Animal Husbandry Minister, N. Kistappa, said appropriate action would be taken. N. Narsimhaiah (CPI(M)) alleged that reservation for the SC/ STs was not being followed in promotions. Denying the charge, the Social Welfare Minister J. R. Pushparaj, said the Government had issued an Order ensuring reservation is strictly followed in promotions in all departments.
