One killed in police firing

By Our Staff Correspondent

PATNA Feb. 24. One person was killed and another injured when police opened fire in Khagaria town to quell a mob which turned violent in the wake of the murder of an employee of a trader by criminals.

The mob tried to set fire to the fire tender that had been summoned to douse the DSP's jeep they had torched. Earlier they pelted stones at the Khagaria town police station for its failure to take action against the criminals who had killed the employee. At least seven police personnel were injured in the attack. The opposition parties have called for a bandh in Khagaria district tomorrow to protest the police firing.
