Hearing adjourned on AIADMK's petition against The Hindu

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI FEB. 24. Hearing on the AIADMK's petition in the Madras High Court seeking a temporary injunction ``restraining The Hindu from publishing articles, caricatures, news items, etc., without prior permission'', was today adjourned to Friday.

In his civil suit, the party treasurer, C. Sreenivasan, contested the contents of an article — AIADMK on a gift spree in Sattankulam — published in The Hindu, and prayed for a compensation of Rs. 50 lakhs towards damages for the ``loss of reputation for the party and disgrace, mental agony and pain suffered by the party''.

Today, after the counter-affidavits of the Editor and the Executive Editor of The Hindu were filed, the petitioner's counsel wanted the matter to be heard on Friday. Stating that he would not like to grant another short adjournment, Justice A. Kulasekaran posted the matter to Friday.
