Electrification in full swing in Nellore dt.

NELLORE FEB. 25. After Southern Power Distribution Company came into existence, Transco authorities are able to step up their activities in Nellore district where all villages and hamlets have been electrified. During last year 90 dalit wadas and 46 colonies of weaker sections were electrified against the target of 90 dalit wadas and 54 weaker sections colonies.

In all, 3,673 dalit wadas and 760 weaker sections colonies in the district have been provided electricity. During the year 2003, about 149 dalit wadas and 105 weaker sections colonies were targeted for electrification.

Nine-hour supply in three phases is being maintained to all agricultural and aqua consumers in rural feeders by making two groups in sub-stations. Any interruption caused in the three-phase supply is being compensated during night. However, 24-hour supply is available to all rural feeders and town feeders for domestic purpose.

During 2002, a 33/11 K.V. sub-station at Gudur was commissioned and the voltage improved in Manubolu and Gudur rural areas. Similar sub-stations were set up in Allur and Udayagiri.

Under integrated system improvement scheme, Rs. 60 crores has been sanctioned by the Rural Electrification Corporation. It envisages setting up of three sub-stations at Brhamadevam, Podalakur and Naidupet and setting up of 33 numbers of 132 K.V. sub-stations. Out of the 33 stations, 13 are programmed at Vakadu, Gollagunta, Duttalur, Kaligiri, Revur, Sangam, Atakanitippa, Narukuru, Adurupalli, South Mopuru, Salipet, C.G.Road and Muthukuru. Also another 20 sub-stations are programmed in the second phase at Leburu, Indukurpet, Bogasamudram and other places.

During 2002-2003, 10,184 domestic services, 1,344 non-domestic services were released. Apart from providing adequate number of agricultural services, 14,544 un-authorised agricultural applicants registered in gram sabhas for regularisation and accordingly 9,560 agricultural services have been regularised.

The authorities have been according top priority for protected water supply schemes and during last year, 32 such schemes were energised.
