AISF report blasts SFI

By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM Feb. 26. The working report tabled at the 35th State conference of the pro-CPI All India Students Federation (AISF) has blasted the pro-CPI(M) Students Federation of India (SFI) for the latter's intransigence on always having the upper hand.

In the 50-page report, the attack on the SFI starts from page number 25. The thrust is on the SFI attitude towards a joint agitation planned by pro-Left students organisations against the educational policies of the UDF Government. The whole move turned out into a damp squib because of the machinations of the SFI to exploit the other pro-Left students organisations and steal the thunder.

The report squarely blamed the present SFI State leadership for the developments. The SFI was not even prepared to accommodate the AISF in the capacity of a general convener for the proposed joint agitation while at the same time insisting that an SFI nominee would function as chairman of the agitation committee.

The report said the AISF would not tolerate its self-esteem to get sacrificed at the SFI altar. Whenever a joint agitation proposal is mooted it has been noted that the SFI has been taking the AISF too much for granted. The SFI is also under the wrong impression that public opinion could be moulded in its favour merely through a leaflet distribution campaign.

The AISF felt that the SFI style of functioning would only help in strengthening the cause of the education sector getting further commercialised. Even now it is not too late for forging a unity among pro-Left organisations ``provided the SFI is willing to be accommodative''.
