Cong. stakes claim

NEW DELHI MARCH 2 . The Congress tonight staked a claim to form a coalition government in Meghalaya. D.D. Lapang, senior leader of the Congress, which has emerged as the single largest party with 22 seats in the hung 60-member Meghalaya Assembly, met the Governor, M.M. Jacob and put forward his claim to form a Government with a list of 38 MLAs, including those from allies, the United Democratic Party (UDP), the Meghalaya Democratic Party (MDP) and three independents. — PTI
