Don't `sail in two boats', VHP tells BJP

Phagwara March 2. The VHP has warned the BJP against "sailing in two boats" on the issue of the Ram temple construction at Ayodhya and said it would "prove too costly" for the saffron party.

``The BJP has come to power after it committed itself to the temple construction and the party should fulfil it and sailing in two boats on the issue will prove too costly for the party," the VHP secretary and Ram Janmabhoomi Andolan in-charge, Rajendra Singh Pankaj, told reporters here on Saturday.

"The issue of Ram Mandir concerns Astha (faith) of the Hindu Samaj and should be decided outside court. The Government has no alternative except handing over the undisputed land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas....... It is very much under the purview of Parliament to hand over the disputed land in Ayodhya for construction of the Ram temple by amending the law," he said.

"Now, the VHP will not hold negotiations with anybody on the issue," he added. — PTI
