BSNL slashes STD rates

NEW DELHI MARCH 3. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced a major reduction in STD rates for distances over 500 km. Effective from March 6 midnight, the new rate will be a uniform Rs. 4.80 for three minutes, replacing the earlier peak time charge of Rs. 9 and off-peak rate of Rs. 4.80.

The BSNL did not change the other three distance slabs. The existing Rs. 1.20 flat rate for 0-50 km will continue as will Rs. 2.40 (peak) and Rs. 1.20 (off-peak) for 50 to 200 km and Rs. 4.80 (peak) and Rs. 2.40 (off-peak) for 200 to 500 km.
