Power proposals' response date extended

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI MARCH 3. Following a poor response from the Capital's residents and other stake holders, a disappointed Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has extended the last date for submission of response to the DERC on the power discoms' new proposals regarding new electricity connections and complaint-handling procedures.

The fortnight-long extension also comes in the wake of complaints from some people that the details of the new proposal, as stated by the DERC, were not available at the discoms' headquarters and their district centres.

Highly placed sources in the BSES and Tata Power said they had received a strong letter from the DERC about such lapse last week.

The discoms have been asked why the proposals were not available to the public at these centres and directed to ensure it was available in future.

The DERC is also understood to have brought to the notice of the discoms that the proposals were not put up on the website several days after the public notice in this regard.

However, a BSES spokeswoman denied that the documents were not available.

"The stock had finished at Janakpuri centre and it is now available,'' she said.
