Poster competitions for older school children, colouring contests for children below five, neighbourhood surveys by college students, using children aged between 10 and 12 to promote a healthy environment in villages around the school, are some of the programmes that will be taken up this year. Children will be encouraged to start vegetable gardens in schools. The focus will be on hospitals, nursing homes, schools and pre-school, and the target group includes street children and children with physical and mental disabilities. The prizes for contests and competitions will be announced on April 7, World Health Day. Shields will be awarded to the cleanest hospital, school and pre-school.
