Sub-standard eggs supplied to anganwadis: DMK

By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry March 5. R.Siva, DMK MLA said here today that the eggs supplied to children attached to the anganwadi centres run by the Pondicherry Adminstration were sub-standard and would not meet the nutrient aspect of the child`s health. Talking to presspersons and showing samples of the eggs in support of his allegation, he said that he had confirmed from knowledgable sources that the eggs (small in size) supplied twice a week to the children were called `bullet eggs' and they should not be used at all.

He said that the Bengal gram used for the protein aspect of the food of the kids was also sub- standard. He appealed to the authorities to inspect the centres and ensure that the quality of the stuff supplied to children was up to the mark.
